Ray Leaning is an artist specializing in erotic
images of the female form. His chosen media are
pencil & conté on paper, and oil on
canvas. Recently he has begun to self-publish
some of his more popular paintings and sketches
as limited edition prints.
Ray was born in Lincolnshire in November1959.
As a teenager he fell in love with rock music,
motorbikes, girls and comic book art (Marvel &
DC). After a varied early career (crane driver
in Scunthorpe steelworks; motorbike courier in
Manchester; modeller of life-size fiberglass dinosaurs
. . .) Ray was accepted as a mature student at
Exeter College of Art. He graduated in Fine Art
Painting in 1984. After a brief period teaching
art, he began working as a graphic designer in
the field of illustrated publishing in Soho.
Nineteen years on, Ray now lives in Brighton
with Carol, several offspring and a '76 Bonneville.
He continues to freelance as an Art Director and
Consultant producing graphics - from company logos
& identities to magazine blueprints, from
brochures to advertising campaigns for small businesses
and international publishers - but has at last
found time and space for his first love - painting
sexy ladies.
His artwork has been featured in: Cartier International
Polo Magazine, The Erotic Review, The Independent,
SW magazine, Penthouse, Ritual, Secret Magazine,
Skin Two, Marquis, Forum, in Reuters news reports
and on BBC and L!VE TV.
Some examples of Ray's wonderful work is below.
